James chapter 1, verse 5.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach,

and it will be given him.

Is that not an incredible promise?

I want you to just think for a moment about wisdom you need today.

I think oftentimes when we hear wisdom, we think of maybe big decisions we're making in life.

And we need wisdom to make those decisions in good and helpful ways.

And that's absolutely true.

We need God's wisdom in big decisions in life.

And we need God's wisdom and little decisions in life. We need God's

wisdom in every facet of our lives. The reality is, because of our sinful nature, we are prone

to foolishness, which means we need God's wisdom at every moment. In every way, I think about Solomon praying for wisdom when he says

in First Kings 3, God, I'm only a child. I don't know how to carry out my duties as king. Please give me

wisdom. And I think about my life today, I don't know how to carry out any of my duties on my own as husband, as dad,

as a follower of Jesus in this world around me. I need God's wisdom in every area of my life,

at every moment of my life. And the beauty of James chapter 1, 1 verse 5 is that anyone who realizes they need

wisdom can look to God and he gives it generously. God, the author of wisdom, the God who is

all wise, says, I don't hold back wisdom.

I give it generously to everybody who asks for it.

And trust me for it.

That's the very next verse, verse 6.
