For anybody to dismiss the significance of space and the connections of the polar regions

to the space domain, it would be naive.

We've got one pole, Antarctica, which is characterized by global cooperation and collaboration,

heralded as a win of sorts from the Cold War era,

whereas the Arctic is, in my opinion, sort of framed in terms of a looming clash over the North Pole.

But these are both misconceptions.

And in this episode, I'm joined by two guests, Dr. Liz Buchanan and Dr. Ryan Burke.

Both are Modern War Institute fellows, and they are also the directors of a brand new initiative launched this week that MWI is hosting.

It's called Project 6633, and it's going to be a platform for discussion, debate, and analysis, all centered on Arctic and Antarctic security.

In the conversation, you'll hear Ryan and Liz talk about the genesis of the project and why they believe discussions about these two regions are so important.

They also share their thoughts on some of the main polar security challenges and how great power competition might play out in these two opposite ends of the earth.

It was a really interesting discussion to record and it's a great primer to sort of set the stage for
