Summary

Elder Holland (and others) have called Liberty Jail a "prison-temple" for Joseph Smith and others that were with him. For over four months they suffered; but they also changed and became something new. In this episode we take a look at our own prison-temple experiences, figure out how to endure them, and identify what we are supposed to learn from them.  Show Notes: Jeffrey R. Holland, "Lessons from Liberty Jail," BYU Devotional, September 2008. Joseph Smith, "Letter to the Church and Edward Partridge," March 20, 1839. scripturestudyproject.com or connect to us on Instagram or Facebook Music: “Do Not Go Gentle” by Josh Woodward

And many others.

0:41.6

I think that's, I don't know.

0:42.9

I don't know what the most quoted scriptures are in the doctrine and covenants, but these rank them on the top, I'm sure.

0:48.3

Probably.

0:49.7

And I won't apologize, but I almost feel like I should because for the third week in a row, I want to build on what we studied last week.

1:02.1

And so I feel, I hope this isn't redundant, but I want to kind of pick up where we left off last week.

1:08.9

No, I don't think it's too redundant.

1:10.2

That's like saying that the third Lord of the Rings movie is redundant, which that's not true.

1:15.1

If this episode is as good to people as the Lord of the Rings was, then we've hit it home.

1:21.0

Now, when you start to get into like 500 repeats, like the Avengers movies, then maybe you're in trouble.

1:27.0

But if we're still just sticking to the Lord of the Rings with three, then we're okay.

1:31.4

Okay, so this is the...

1:32.3

Although Lord of the Rings ruined it too.

1:34.3

Like so many hobbits.
