So the most important thing to know, I think, when your flight gets canceled, is that you are entitled to a refund.

Our department has a role, and the role is that we require the airlines to file what's called a customer service plan to explain how they handle situations like this.

The moment you say, I would like a cash refund, they can't resist. You can get a lot of money if that happens.

You know, not all airlines are alike.

So we got to make sure that an airline that's doing the right thing.

We're here to make sure that the system works, to make sure that customers are protected,

and above all, of course, to make sure that it is safe.

As a consumer, as a passenger, you are protected not just by what's in the fine print of the backside of your ticket, but by the Department of Transportation.
