hard to buy a house in Seattle. But it's gotten even harder in the past few years as

interest rates and house prices have soared. As a result, would-be homebuyers are increasingly

leaving, the city, the metro area, and sometimes even the state. Seattle Times journalist Paul

slated for today in the trial of an Auburn police officer charged with second-degree murder.

Jeffrey Nelson is also charged with second-degree assault for the 2019 encounter where he shot

and killed Jesse Surrey. Nelson is the first police officer charged under voter-approved

initiative 940, which requires prosecutors to show that Nelson's use of force was not reasonable
