The Seattle City Council just banned landlords from using software that uses an algorithm to set rent prices.

They say it amounts to unfair collusion and rent fixing. But will banning the software really lower the cost of renting in Seattle?

We'll break it down with Seattle Times real estate reporter Heidi Groover in a minute. But first,

let's get you caught up. There's a groundbreaking ceremony. There's also a goodbye party today for

Seattle's Memorial Stadium. The nearly 80-year-old stadium at Seattle Center

will undergo a $140 million renovation beginning this summer. It's scheduled to reopen by the end of

2027. The project is a partnership between Seattle Public Schools and the City of Seattle. Today's

event begins at 4 o'clock with food trucks, music,

and a preview of what the new Memorial Stadium will look like. Home prices in the Seattle market

have dipped for the first time in two years. A report by Homes.com shows the median home price

decreased by about $10,000 in May compared to the year before. Still, Seattle has one of the

most expensive housing markets in the country. The median home costs $765,000. The Puget Sound

Business Journal reports townhomes saw the biggest price cuts in May at nearly 5%. And if you've ever wanted to start a food business in Seattle, city officials are sponsoring

a free workshop today on how to get up and running.

It'll cover food permits, business licenses, and what resources are available for business

owners.
