Ingram's fifth but Elliot back again for another episode of the Noelcast. Bud would be doing this for a long time.

I always feel really fortunate to be able to do this but this is a show that may even have a little bit of a

bounce in our step. For us this is kind of show one of the new year so always want to thank everybody that makes the

Noelcast possible this will be our fifth year doing this as the Noelcast and we're just exceptionally fortunate and thank you

the listener and we're going to jump into our season preview series my man and damn if there weren't a lot of times what I didn't

think we weren't going to be talking about a season preview series over the past couple of months so that is exciting in its own

defense today and that's just one of the reasons why I'm excited but this should be a it should be a fun

conversation man and hey I don't want to jinx us but it sure as hell looks like we made it through one of the more

ridiculous off seasons that I hope we ever go through and it looks like we're on the verge of actually kicking off college

football season I'm excited man like like online classes on field play let's go this is this is cool let's let's

let's do it so to kind of set the table for the 2019 deepensive preview I wanted to kind of go back and

discuss last year's defense a little bit just from a production and benchmark perspective so we can kind of set the table

for for where this unit needs to be this year now one thing at the top went when I'm listing off kind of where they

finished in certain categories you have to remember last year there were 130 teams so if you finish like top 25 last

year that would be like finishing top 15 this year because in the only about 60% of teams or so are playing so last

year this defense was 61st overall in sp plus which was was a drop off from the year prior it seems there

you know communication issues both on the coaching staff and within the defense which calls some problems it

was a weird defense in that normally hot on Bernadier's defenses had been like allowing big plays but not
