Hey readers. Welcome to the currently reading podcast. We are bookish best friends who spend time every week talking about the books that we've read recently. And as you know, we won't shy away

0:21.6

from having strong opinions. So get ready. We are light on the chit-chat, heavy on the book talk,

0:26.8

and our conversations will always be spoiler-free. Today we'll discuss our current reads,

0:31.2

a bookish deep dive, and then we'll visit The Fountain. I'm Meredith Monday Schwartz, a mom of four

0:36.1

and full-time CEO living in Austin, Texas. and it turns out I'm happiest when all I need to do all day is read.

0:43.0

And I'm Katie Cobb, a homeschooling mom of four living in Arizona. And sometimes I'd prefer to be more beholden to my books than my calendar.

0:50.8

This is episode number 32 of season seven, and we are so glad you're here. I feel like

0:55.6

we're vibing today, Meredith. Love a theme. Love a theme, even though, even when we don't plan on it.

1:01.5

Accidental theme. I love that too. Okay, y'all, we are going to boss some more victims than their

1:06.5

TBRs today. We have two new bookish friends who gave us the old pick me, pick me, and we can't

1:12.6

wait to pick on them. But first, we'll get started the way we always do with our bookish moments

1:17.4

of the week. Meredith, what is yours? Well, there is no way that my bookish moment of the week could be

1:22.4

anything other than the fact that I am freshly home from our annual reading retreat. And it was so much fun.

1:31.1

I feel like every year we know a little more about what we want. We refine. We tweak. And every

1:37.5

year it just gets a little bit better. This year, our biggest tweak was that we added a fifth day.

1:43.0

So it's a five-day reading extravaganza, and it was absolutely

1:49.3

fantastic. We did, of course, as always, we have a schedule. We stuck to that schedule. We

1:54.3

continue to believe that having that schedule is what makes it a reading retreat as opposed to just

2:00.2

a girl's trip. And both of

2:02.5

those things are great, but know the result you're looking for when you go into something, right?

2:07.4

The result we're looking for from this is a fantastic reading retreat. And we absolutely had that.

2:12.8

We went with four of us. We rented our third Airbnb. This is our third, our third different Airbnb,
