Do you ever struggle to pray for certain people in your life?

I know I do.

Whether it's because they're in a life situation that I have no experience with,

or because maybe they've hurt me in some way.

There's just some relationships where it's really hard to know how to pray or honestly

even to want to pray for them.

And that's why this season on the Prayers of Rest podcast, we're praying for tricky

relationships.

And yes, we're really going there. If you've ever struggled

with your mother-in-law or your daughter-in-law, we're going there. If you've been hurt by your

local church, oh friend, I get it. And yes, we're going to go there.

If you know someone who's been diagnosed with cancer or a chronic illness or whose family member has committed suicide, I'm so sorry. And yes, yeah, we're going to go there.

If you're struggling in your marriage or with your adult children or with

forgiving your father or mother, we're going to go there to you. And if you're wondering how to pray

for your neighbor or your unbelieving friend or the person whose political views are so opposite

to yours, yep, we're going there too. And the best part is that

God is already there. We're not going anywhere where he hasn't already gone before us. Rather,

he's inviting us to bring these tricky relationships to him, to be honest with him about the hurt and the hard and the heavy, and to sit with him in prayer.

I can't promise you that these relationships will get any easier by the end of the season, but I can promise you that as we bring these tricky relationships to God,

he will give us in exchange his peace as we learn to rest in his loving presence. Each Monday morning

will release a brand new 10-minute prayer of rest for each of these relationships.
