So this week, we're here with an excerpt from my upcoming devotional, Prayers of Rest, Daily Prompts to Slow Down and Hear God's Voice. I hope this prayer helps guide you in God's loving presence today.

John, take a deep breath and quiet your heart as we become aware of God's loving presence around us and within us.

Today's passage comes from John chapter 1, verses 1 to 2.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

Recite God's goodness. Oh, life-giving God, existing from before time began, you are limitless and beyond comprehension, and yet you chose to reveal yourself to us in Christ Jesus.

Your body, and fleshed and bodily form walked among us, displaying your love

in a way that we could see and touch and understand. I praise you, God, for the gift of your son.

Take a few moments now to recite God's goodness, praising Him for who He is and for what

He has done in your life.

Express your neediness

oh god i confess that i can't quite grasp the concepts of coexistence of coexistence and eternity

and the trinity these truths seem beyond my comprehension or explanation.

So help me to appreciate the beauty of these mysteries. And may they make you more precious to me.

So pause now. Express your neediness to God. If there are things about

today's passage that puzzle you, confuse you, bring them before him, and then confess your

need for Him, for His presence and his grace in your life.

Seek his stillness.

Take a few moments now to become aware of God's eternal communal presence surrounding you and filling you through his own spirit.

Is there anything that He wants to say to you or anything that you want to say to him?

Trust his faithfulness.

Oh, God, it's because you are so much bigger than I can comprehend that I can rest in your power and your supremacy.
