Jody Hoosentrute was a nice person.

That's what the people who knew her said after she disappeared.

She might have been too nice.

Jody would always go out of her way to help people,

and sometimes, certain situations, that can lead to trouble.

As the hours since Jody Hoosentrude had failed to report to work at the TV station in Mason City, Iowa turned into days, friends, family, and colleagues began to fear the worst.

She'd clearly been abducted from the parking lot of the apartment complex where she lived, just steps from her apartment door.

Jody's producer had called her there at 4.10 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, June 27, 1995,

when she'd failed to arrive for her 3 a.m. call time.

Police had been called and arrived about three hours later to find Jody's car in its spot,

and belongings, apparently from Jody's purse, strewn about the area, a pair of shoes,

a pair of earrings, a bottle of hairspray, a blow dryer. They also found Jody's car key,

which eerily appeared to have been bent in a struggle. Jody's neighbors in the apartment complex

told authorities they'd heard strange sounds around the same time that morning.

Some described those noises as animal-like.

But if the sounds they'd heard had aroused any suspicion in the neighbors, none of them acted on it.

Nobody called 911.

Immediately after Jody disappeared, the rumors hit the streets.

The buzz around town was that Jody had experienced issues with someone stalking her in the past,

perhaps a male viewer who felt a little too connected to the TV personality.

The scene of Jody's abduction appears to lend some weight to the possibility that someone had been stalking her
