The terrified snorts and screams of horses, the stables have been broken open.

The army rampaging through the town isn't far away now.

It won't be long before the keep, the one truly secure bit of Mirabo castle, is surrounded

and cut off.

And that makes one sound more important than all the rest.

A frantic, quiet scratching, coming from the corner of the room.

At a desk, a clerk is moving his quill as fast as he can across slips of parchment.
