Often, God uses food to describe His Word.

He calls the Bible the milk of the Word.

He talks about the meat of the Word.

Jesus calls it the bread of life.

The Bible is called food for the soul.

So, God often uses the issue of food to define the well-being of our spiritual existence.

And His concern is that we do not have a disorder in how we approach the Word in order for us to get the benefit from the Word

that He wants to make available to His people.

He comes in verse 19 and He says three things.

My beloved brother, and I'm talking to Christians.

Everyone, you're not an exception, must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

He says the very first thing you need to know is you need to be quick to hear.
