Thankfully, more local and state governments from both sides of the political aisle

are acknowledging the harmful effects of cell phones in schools and are adopting policies to

limit their use. Though this is overdue, it is welcome.

Last year Florida passed the law to ban the use of cell phones and classrooms.

And then in April, Governor Eric Holcomb of Indiana

signed a bill that prohibits students from using cell phones

except for learning purposes and in cases of emergencies.

In June, the Los Angeles School Board adopted a ban that will now take effect at the beginning of next year.
