Hello everyone. I'm Matt Williamson here with an emergency weekend podcast right before the

emergency possibly snow hits the town. I am recording this hour or two after hearing the news,

Saturday, 4 o'clockish, something like that. I'm not sure when you'll get it.

But it seems that most of you, pretty much everyone that I've gauged,

is not excited about the Steelers hiring Mike McCarthy as the new head coach.

I get some of that. I mean, the words I keep hearing are uninspired, only striving for mediocrity or to make the playoffs, no long-term vision.

This team doesn't understand the modern NFL.

And I get some of that.

What I would be more critical of than any of those terms is he hasn't shown a great

history of having a high ceiling.

And maybe that is very Tomlin-esque as well.

But he did win a Super Bowl, you know?

And then I get, well, he only won one Super Bowl with Aaron Rogers.

True.

And I think I've mentioned that in his past, too, that you would have thought those teams,

Rogers McCarthy, he's not the only one to blame, maybe would have had a little more

postseason success, you know, but Brady was busy winning all of them at the time.

Here's the deal to me is, well, maybe we'll get in the positives in a bit.

But I, first off, there was a lot of candidates in this group that I was interested in,

but none of them were Ben Johnson or, man, what a, what an opportunity to get this guy for the next 20 years, which

clearly McCarthy is not going to be here for the next 20 years. And I don't know why that's

a prerequisite with everybody either, just because the Steelers have done that for three seasons.
