I'm John Bachelor with Professor Richard Epstein, a senior fellow for the Hoover Institution.

He teaches law at NYU and the University of Chicago and is my guide on where we're

going with the Supreme Court and the Republican, the presumed Republican

nominee for the presidency, former President Donald Trump.

Richard, the first trial of many, we're told, the courtrooms of Donald Trump will be in Manhattan in the middle of this month.

And there is a judge now making news. Judge rejects Donald

Trump's request to delay hush money trial until Supreme Court rules on

immunity. The immunity decision if it comes is to the end of June.

So this seems a reasonable choice.

Yeah, I mean this is all a great complication.

You have to figure out why he takes the case and so forth.

But what happens is Trump is running all of these cases simultaneously.

And it turns out there's always a technical issue of when it is that you're supposed to raise certain kinds of pretrial motion to deal with things that are not necessarily covered by a trial.

So you have pretrial motions talking about the admissibility of evidence of one kind or or another, pre-trial motions that start to deal with expert testimony and how it's supposed to be received.

Pre-call trial, which are designed to eliminate certain causes of action to certain defenses, and one of those defenses would be the question of presidential immunity.

So what Trump wants to say is,

so long as this stuff has anything to do with my presidential duty in or office or anything related to it, you can't

assume me on that because otherwise the presidents are always going to be subject to

vengeance campaign on all sorts of things at Exhibit A.
