And I'm Brent Scorup, a legal fellow at the Levy Center for Constitution Studies at the Cato Institute.

And today we're going to be talking about some of the blockbuster cases from the Supreme Court term that just ended at the end of June.

The Supreme Court, no matter how many blockbusters it has,

no matter how much the work piles up,

they always somehow pull enough all-nighters to get things wrapped up in June,

and this year was no exception.

We had five huge cases at the end of the term,

and Brett, how are you feeling after the rush of reading,

thinking about, digesting the cases all at once?

Well, I'm still digesting, to be frank.

I would say a bit of a mixed bag.

I thought last year's term, I was a little more optimistic.

This year, I think it was a little bit of a mixed bag.

The government winning more and more frequently than I would like.

Yeah, it certainly felt like the term before this last one had some really epochal decisions that helped those who sue the government for a living, as we both have at various times,

things like the end of Chevron deference, reaffirming the major questions doctrine.

In this term, the pendulum swung back a little bit.

We took some more losses than typical in cases we supported, none of them devastating,

but certainly this term was a reminder that the government still has some advantages when it's defending its laws at the Supreme Court.
