I am Paul Shear, that other voice is Amy Nicholson and this is unspooled where we talk about great

films we talk about movies that are classics and we also look at movies that

people consider classics and ask the question, are they good?

Or do we just remember them that way?

Or in the case of this movie, was this a flop or can we now remember it as a massive, massive

hit? Can we redeem Scott Pilgrim? It's not versus the world anymore.

It's not even versus its own reputation. It just is Scott Pilgrim.

And we're doing this episode because

right now we are a couple weeks after the release of the brand new Scott Pilgrim

anime series which is yet another incarnation of this franchise and this is such an interesting franchise because this is a film that truly

combines so many things that we love. I mean this is an adaptation of text, but it's also a meta adaptation

of text. It's also an homage to the aesthetic of comic books it pays tribute and embraces things in the video game

world that are so small and unique the biggest super fan will find a smile across his face.

It is something that feels completely different,

but yet is such a worshiping at the altar of all things pop culture and captures this moment in our society,
