My guest, the director, Scott Hicks, has made quite a career for himself, making movies

about outside communities.

We know him best for his film, Shine.

His newest is a wonderful new film with Clive O and The Boys are Back.

First of all, Scott, thanks so much for being here.

That's my pleasure, Elvis.

Hi.

After Shine, it's nice to see you make a movie.

It's safe for somebody to be in the bathtub.

But I thought about that as kind of a continuum just because we all remember what kind of horrible portent it had in shine. But here, it's a womb. It's a place of safety. And even the two brothers are in a tub near in the last third of the film.

Look, this, you know, the doubtless years of therapy lie ahead. I don't know.

This is definitely the province of analysts.

And I'm, you know, but as you pointed out, it does become a little clear.

And, I mean, also, somebody said to me the other day, what is it with you and water?

Yes.

You know, I mean, in Shine, I mean, David Helfcott was constantly immersed in water and suddenly here we have another film where, you know, water has great redemptive sort of possibilities.

Well, there's also snowfalling on Cedars too.

There's kind of frozen water, but there's water if you're in that.

But I think that's as far as it goes.

I don't think you can reach any further into the oeuvre on the waterfront.
