My name is Jenna, and this is Smarter News.

Well, hi, everybody. It's great to see you as we're really finishing out March with a whole

bunch of breaking news this Monday. And as you know, Smarter News, we're not just about chasing breaking news headlines, but we did get some breaking news on a really important case that we've been following out of New York involving former President Trump. We're going to get to that today. By the time you hear this, though, we could, the pace of news is moving so quickly these days. We're going to try to do the best that we can

to capture what you need to know and why it matters. So that sustains you for a period of time

beyond just a breaking news cycle. We had a couple of laughs early in the pre-show with our Scoop

Insiders. I always appreciate them joining us live and we'll take some of their questions live as

well as we work through some of the topics of the topics we have a wide range of topics

they range from challenging to interesting to historic and I'm excited to dig in with you a little bit today

and what we're going to do is we're kind of going to bookend this broadcast and bookend I mean I'm going to start

somewhere and somewhere that have similar themes but we're going to go a lot of different directions in between.

We're going to talk about the border. We're going to talk about the legal cases that are really capturing a lot of news.

Man, having a legal background or having a colleague as I do with the legal background is so helpful as a journalist because so many of our big news stories have to do with law, what's happening with the law and who is writing it and who

is following and who may not be following it and everything in between. We're also going to be

giving some updates and I want to give you some perspective on this terror attack that happened

in Russia. And the reaction to that terror attack by U.S. officials has been very curious in that both Republicans

and Democrats have sort of shrugged not dismissing, not dismissing the terrorist attack,

but saying, yes, this is the information that we've had. This is the information that we've had

about this group, ISIS, and we're concerned. And so we're going to wrap that into the news today. But

going back to where we're going to bookend, I want to talk to you about strategic storytelling.
