where we will appropriately pause before any major headline and wonder, is that real or is that not? It is, it strikes,

it's a day that strikes a fear in journalists around the world because you know you're going

to see something. You're going to see something and wonder, is that something I should chase?

Or is that an April Fool's joke? This actually happened 20 years ago when Google was

announcing the Gmail service.

And they decided they're going to announce it on April Fool's Day.

And there was a collective sort of questioning of, is that real?

Why is it April Fool's Day? Well, I didn't realize what I was getting into researching that. Apparently, there's, you could go real deep. You could go back to the Roman Empire for April Fool's Day. And there's all sorts of theories about where it came from. But really, it caught on in American culture in the 19th century so in in the 1800s, mid-1800s or so, where we start seeing it more in pop culture.
