Hi, everybody. Welcome to Scoop where you get the scoop on this week's news. This is the first scoop of June, and I'm glad you're with us as we sort of glide right into summer, although the news is not slowing down for any sort of summer news cycle. We have a lot to talk about today. And I'm glad to see you. Thank you so much for being here. We're coming off as such a busy week. You know, you had the Memorial Day holiday. We had my birthday, which is not a national holiday. But I'm just going to mention it. That also kind of was a factor of last week. Thank you for those of you who joined us on our live scoop or watched later. I really appreciated it. And then on Friday for me, it is an important day in my personal history,

0:40.4

which is Friday marks six years since I walked away from quote-unquote traditional news.

0:47.6

I was a full-time news anchor on the Fox News channel. I anchored a show two hours a day,

0:54.1

five days a week week for seven years,

0:56.2

the same show. And it was in this protected period of the day where we were just supposed to do

1:01.6

the news. It was straight news. It was called Happening Now, and we covered what was happening now.

1:06.1

So it was very much, you know, you could cover a hurricane, you could cover politics, you could cover

1:10.6

a car chase, you could cover a little bit of could cover politics, you could cover a car chase,

1:11.4

you could cover a little bit of everything. And I really loved the variety of that show. And I loved

1:16.3

being a news anchor. It was beyond my wildest dreams in many ways. And making the decision to walk

1:23.5

away from that was such a pivotal decision in my life. And so on June 2nd, which was the

1:30.8

final day of my contract and the final day I was on air, I said a goodbye. And I share that goodbye

1:37.5

on social media. Our social media channels here at Smarter News, so if you want to check it out,

1:41.8

it's on one of them. And I'll also include

1:44.9

in our newsletter for our scoop recipients. So you could check it out as well. It's just 90 seconds.

1:49.5

My goodbye. So in 10 years of time, my goodbye on the air lasted about 60 seconds. And it was a very

1:56.2

emotional time. And so what I hit June 2nd every year, it's not, you know, for anyone else,

2:04.7

it could be any other day, but for me, it's a very emotionally loaded day. And I don't have any regrets

2:09.9

for walking away, but there's still so many conflicting emotions. And I'm sure you can relate to that.

2:15.9

There are moments in your life where you think that was a very important decision that has forever changed the course of my life.

2:22.1

And what's interesting about that decision is at the time, I could not imagine this exactly

2:28.1

what I was doing now. I hoped that I could figure out a path forward to continue my work as a journalist in nonpartisan news.
