Parapsychology is the branch of science that investigate psychic experiences and the question of

whether we survive bodily death from a scientific perspective. Over eight weeks, we'll look at

ESP, that's things like telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition,

including laboratory data so strong that some statisticians say that these abilities have been proven as well as anything in science.

We'll also look at psychokinesis, including healing studies and distant mental influence.

We'll look at the survival of bodily death,

things like out-of-body experiences, near-death experiences, apparition, and reincarnation cases

where people seem to know things they had no natural way of knowing. We'll look at field

investigations like apparitions of ghosts, ha hauntings, and poltergeists,

and how serious researchers approach them very differently than TV ghost hunters. We'll also have

honest engagement with the major criticisms of parapsychology, plus how parapsychologists guard

against fraud, both in the lab and in the wild.

Doctors of the Church, like St. Thomas Aquinas and Pope St. Gregory the Great,

believe that what we today call psychic functioning is real.

The evidence will examine fits beautifully with the Christian

conviction that the human person is more than just matter and that death is not the end.
