Hello everyone and welcome to talk nerdy. Today is Monday

December 7th 2020 and I'm the host of the show Kara Santa Maria.

This is the second to last show of the year before we take the holiday hiatus.

I love, I always say we. Just me over here.

But before I take off those two weeks around the holidays, that's December 21st and

December 28th, we won't have a new episode.

But hopefully there's still a lot of good stuff and if you're behind on episodes they'll

be able to carry you through and we'll post

some oldies but goodies, some best-doves that you can make sure to listen to if you haven't come

across them yet. This week's show though, oh my gosh, I'm so excited. I don't know how to tell you how

excited I am. This is one of those rare experiences where I had the opportunity to interview an author that I just profoundly respect, whose work I absolutely love.

I've read both of her kind of newer books that have been really influential on my work.

So let me tell you a little bit more about her.

Her name is Angela Saini and she's an independent British science journalist and author. She does a lot of radio and TV presenting

and she's also written for all sorts of different outlets. Sunday Times Nature, New Scientists, Nat Geo, and Wired.

She's won a ton of awards.

She did a two-part documentary series for BBC Four, all about the history and science of

eugenics, which aired last autumn and she wrote

two stunning books which have won a ton of awards the first one, how science got women wrong, and the second one,

Superior, the return of race science. This is a really important chat. It's one that means an awful lot to me.

And I was just thrilled to have the opportunity to sit down with her.
