Today, we sit down with psychoanalyst, parent guidance expert,

and author of Being There, Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the first three years matters, Erica Commissar.

Her new Prager You video is titled, Why Even Atheists Should Teach Their Children About God.

She gives a compelling argument for why parents should teach their kids about God,

even if they themselves are non-believers. And it has nothing to do with salvation. Let's jump right in.

Erica, thanks so much for joining me. Thank you for having me, Georgia.

So you have a really interesting and almost audacious suggestion for non-religious parents.

And I think it might be kind of a scary argument for some atheists, but I'm hoping they'll hear you out.

So you want parents to pretend to believe in God for the sake of their kids for clinical reasons,

not for religious reasons. Can you tell us why? Well, there's several reasons why, actually.

And it's not just my thinking or my opinion. It's based on a Harvard study, a 2018 Harvard study that came out that said that children

that attend religious services or have faith

and are raised with faith and who attend services

at least once a week are more protected from mental illness

and have a higher quotient on the happiness scale, you'd say, of well-being. So I'd like to say

it's my opinion, but it really, there's research to back it up. But basically it does a few things.
