Hey, everyone.

We are doing an interview show, and we're super excited to have Daniel Moore on the show, and he is an expert at scaling websites.

He works at Fog Creek Software.

So, Daniel, why don't you tell the audience a little bit about yourself?

Yeah, I'm a software developer.

I've been developing software for, I guess, about 10 years now, always messing around

on computers.

And my recent project, HyperDev, is something we started at F fog creek to really make development easier for

most people like broader than just developers and we're hoping that it will be a tremendous success

requiring more than one database that's awesome so cool. So a lot of people, you know, we have a lot of people

in the show who, you know, are taking CS 101 or maybe electrical engineering 101 and they're,

you know, working on Arduino and things like that. I've never built a website.

I actually hadn't built a website in really long until much later in my career when I got into the sort of web.

And so for someone who's never done web, you know, what is, you know, you hear about

the web stack, you know, like, what is that?

What are some examples and what does that really mean yeah i guess

these days it's kind of weird actually because it used to be i guess like five or ten years ago

you'd say like the lamp stack which basically would be linux apache my sequel and php So you'd have these like discrete components, like an

operating system layer, web server like Apache, programming language like PHP, and the database

layer like MySQL. But today with all of these services, like Amazon services or others, like you don't
