| 0:00.0 | Our guest on the show today is David Hogg, former vice chair of the DNC and current president of leaders we deserve. |
| 0:06.0 | As you might expect, we asked him a ton about his experience of the DNC, as well as how he views getting kicked out on a technicality from the DNC. |
| 0:13.0 | We also asked him a lot about where he thinks the Democratic Party needs to go in the future and his broad frustration, which we share, of course, with these do-nothing Democrats |
| 0:21.1 | and safe blue seats that could be doing a lot more for their people and for the country as a whole. |
| 0:25.7 | I think you'll find this conversation pretty informative. It's always good when we can talk to |
| 0:29.0 | people with a different perspective. Obviously, he's got the institutional background within the |
| 0:32.6 | Democratic Party, and we have whatever would be the complete opposite of that. So I think you'll enjoy this conversation, and we really appreciate David for coming on. Also, for those of you asking, because we've gotten tons of comments since we recorded the last episode, yes, we saw the Mallory McMorrow interview with Matt Bernstein. Yes, it was another work of art for Matt. Also, shout out to Emma Viglin for being there. And yes, it was another flop for Mallory McMorrow. Maybe we'll talk about that more on the next episode. Didn't talk about it here because it didn't really come up and didn't really fit with what we were talking about with David. But maybe if you guys want to hear our thoughts on it, we'll talk about it in a future episode. At the very least, your boys ahead in the office got some more ammunition against one of our ops in the Michigan political scene. |
| 1:13.4 | Anyways, I hope you enjoy this interview with David Hogg. |
| 1:24.6 | We are now joined on heading the office by David Hogg, |
| 1:28.8 | activist organizer, former vice chair of the DNC, and now president of leaders we deserve. Thanks for coming on the show. Absolutely. Thank you guys for having me. |
| 1:33.1 | The team at leaders we deserve are huge fans. As I am I. Now, I want to start off with your sort of |
| 1:37.8 | like political transformation over the last couple of years. I think some people, and you can |
| 1:42.6 | disagree with this characterization, but I think |
| 1:44.2 | maybe some people started off viewing you as just like maybe another Democratic Party foot soldier. |
| 1:49.2 | And I think that perception has changed over time, especially with your work when you were at the |
| 1:53.7 | DNC. So what changed on your view with what needs to be done to sort of save the Democratic |
| 2:00.7 | Party from itself? |
| 2:02.3 | Well, you know, I think what changed is that I tried to do, you know, I've kept the same |
| 2:06.9 | beliefs from the beginning. It's that I felt like I could actually try to change things from |
| 2:11.0 | within. You know, it's so easy to stand on the outside of these things and shout and |
| 2:14.9 | scream on Twitter about everything that's wrong. And there's certainly an element of that that is necessary. But, you know, when you have the resources to actually be able to get elected to a position like being a vice chair of the DNC, who would I be, you know, to just sit on the outside and say, this thing sucks. It's never going to get better. Everything's terrible. That's the easy part, right? It's just pointing out everything that's wrong. |
| 2:35.0 | Real leadership comes from trying to fix these things. |
