Professional standards and practices were not followed.

Mote Marine is an aquarium, and Hugh was a manatee.

A beloved local icon, according to the story.

So beloved was Hugh, the manatee in Sarasota, that they didn't have to identify Hugh as a manatee in the headline.

Everyone in Sarasota knew which Hugh the Herald Tribune was talking about.

Just like you don't need to clarify which tailor you mean when you're talking about a tailor in the United States. You did not need to clarify which Hugh in Sarasota you were talking about

when you talked about Hugh in Sarasota. There is only one Hugh in Sarasota. Or there was only one

Hugh or there's one less Hugh now. Hugh is dead. That was right there in the

headline. Hugh died at the Motte Marine Aquarium where he'd been for decades, most of his life,

and he died before his time. Manatees usually live for 50 or 60 years and poor Hugh was only

36. It is not right that Henry Kissinger outlived Hugh. But how did Hugh die?

Not in the headline, not in the lead. In fact, after the jump, all right, for my younger
