I was going to open last week's show with some thoughts about something that was bubbling up on queer Twitter,

but then I got distracted by a shiny object or a slimy object, Rick Santorum.

And instead I opened last week's show with my thoughts about a sudden discharge of

Santorum.

The thing I almost talked about last week, you know, honestly, I was worried I would just

be amplifying some inane voices on Twitter if I talked about it.

It was just a couple of dumb tweets.

One read,

Please don't bring your kinks or fetishes to pride. There are minors at pride and this can sexualize the event. Someone else said that kinksters at pride make some people uncomfortable. And someone

else said that they were a queer minor and if they saw any kinksters at Pride, they were going to call the cops and have them arrested.

So, no police at Pride, unless someone shows up in a harness, in which case, call the cops.

The debate about Kingsers at Pride went on to blow up all over queer Twitter and queer Instagram and led to dueling think

pieces and big publications. It even made it into Roxanne Gay's column in the New York Times

over the weekend. So instead of looking prescient by addressing it first, by getting to it at the top

of last week's show, it's going to look like I'm playing catch up by talking about it at the top of

this week's show.

But I got to talk about it.

First, asking people not to sexualize pride is to miss the point.
