So my mom, when she wanted me to pray for her, my mom would say, keep me in your thoughts,

which I always did whenever she asked me to, and I still do now that she can't.

To my Asian friends, listeners,

and co-workers, I want you to know that you have been very much in my thoughts over the last week.

I also want to say to my friends and listeners who do sex work, you've been in my thoughts too.

When sex workers are attacked, when sex workers are harassed, stalked, assaulted, murdered, people don't speak up on behalf of sex workers or the work they do.

Or worse, people will blame the sex worker because if they hadn't been doing sex work in the first place, which some people do by choice and others do because they lack other choices.

If they hadn't been doing sex work, they wouldn't have been harassed, stalked, murdered.

The massacre in Atlanta, the mass shooting at three massage parlors,

the murders of six Asian women and a white woman and a white man.

It wasn't just a racially motivated crime.

The shooter, the son of a youth pastor, a self-hating, quote-unquote,

sex addict who had been through a residential sex addict rehab program at an evangelical church, which should be illegal.

This was someone who hated himself for having sexual desires and hated the people who helped

him act on them, realized them.

People he would have been able to appreciate, desires he would

have been able to appreciate if his faith or his parents or our culture had taught him to

accept his sexuality and his desires and to, if not love, at least appreciate the people
