Two bits of good news to start out the show this week.

Good news.

You remember good news, right?

First, yesterday, the Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law that would have regulated abortion clinics out of existence in that state.

And if the law had been upheld, similar laws would have been abortion clinics out of existence in that state. And if the law

had been upheld, similar laws would have been passed in other red states. It was a five-four

decision with conservative chief justice, John Roberts, joining the four liberals in the majority,

but make no mistake. A woman's right to choose, a woman's right to control her body to decide

when, if, and whether she wants to become a parent still hangs by a thread.

There are more abortion cases making their way toward the court because there are always abortion cases making their way toward the court because this is America.

And Canada got the French and Australia got the convicts, and we got

the Puritans and the short end of that stick, and consequently, the culture wars here are never

going to end. By which I mean to say, don't get complacent. DGC. Nothing about the usually reliably

anti-choice chief justice's decision yesterday, in which he cited a legal technicality,

not an epiphany. Nothing about his decision yesterday prevents him from voting with the

conservatives to ban abortion in some other case, which is why, even with three good recent

decisions from the court on gay and trans employment protections, on the dreamers program,

and now on abortion, we can't

get complacent.
