remember to spare a thought and maybe save an extra slice of pecan pie for Will Sanderson,

a gay man who lives in Los Angeles. Will's dad, Bill Sanderson, is a state representative

in Tennessee, first elected office in 2011. The elder Sanderson is proudly pro-life and pro-family, according to his

campaign website. He joined the legislature to preserve the values that have defined our families

for generations. While in office, Representative Sanderson has voted to block bans on discrimination

against gay people.

He's condemned same-sex marriage.

He's attacked gay parents.

His vote actually helped nullify an anti-discrimination statute in Nashville because Republicans believe in small government and local control up until local governments start raising the minimum

wage or banning discrimination against queer people.

Representative Sanderson has also advanced legislation attacking trans people and pushed through a bill

that would allow licensed therapists to turn away gay clients and anyone else who offends their

religious beliefs. Personally, I would want to see an anti-gay strength myself, but the pro-gay

pickings may be pretty slim in Tennessee.

Anyway, it must have been awkward for adult gay will to head home and hang out with anti-gay bill at Thanksgiving.
