There is this video occasionally gets passed around the internet.

Maybe you've seen it.

It's somebody at a bike race.

They're bike racing, racing bikers.

And he's approaching the finish line.

So he's about to win this race.

He's maybe 20 feet from the finish line. So he's about to win this race. He's maybe 20 feet from the finish line and he begins to pump his fists in the air. Let's go of his handlebars, pumps

his fist in the air in celebration and probably topples off his bicycle and the person behind him

wins the race. There's a very similar video of a snowboarder doing almost exactly the same thing.

So close to the finish line begins to celebrate, falls on her ass, and the snowboarder behind her schlaloms around her and wins the race.

So I wanted to open today's show by saying, hey, you guys, congratulations.

We got through 2017 in one piece, but there's actually five or six days left in 2017 that we have to get through.

And we don't want any premature celebrating.

We don't want to be that guy on the bike pumping his fists in the air or that woman on the snowboard prematurely celebrating her first place finish and then fall on our asses.

We are in that week, that week between Christmas and New Year's, where every day in that week

feels like a Sunday, that weird sort of neither here nor there, not your day, if you're not

particularly faithful, not the Lord's Day, either just a Sunday kind of day

for seven days in a row. We're there. And when we get through that week of Sundays, we will be

through 2017 and headed into 2018. It has been a long, difficult year. We have fought and fought. We have marched. We have screamed. We have yelled. We have called. We have prevented some terrible things from happening. We haven't been able to prevent every single terrible thing from happening. And along the way, we've still managed to have fun, smoke a little pot here and there, get late, hook up, break up, listen to my show, call into my show, and it's been great.
