| 0:25.3 | Usually at the top of the show, I rant at you for a few minutes about something that I'm upset or concerned about. |
| 0:30.9 | And what I'm most upset and most concerned about today, Tuesday, is what happened in North Carolina last week. |
| 0:35.9 | But as I sat down to think about what I might say at the top of the show, I realized I was just going to repeat and regurgitate a lot of what Dominic Holden, National LGBT reporter at BuzzFeed News, has been writing over the last week about North Carolina. | 1:55.7 | The first is override all local nondiscrimination ordinances that provide discrimination protections that aren't |
| 2:03.0 | covered by state law, and then they left out LGBT people from coverage. The other thing it did |
| 2:09.1 | is it specifically mandated that transgender students and restrooms and government-run buildings, |
| 2:16.6 | they could not be accessed by people with a corresponding gender identity. |
| 2:21.4 | And in schools, that's a particularly legally questionable move because under the Obama administration, the federal government is found that violating transgender students' rights is illegal under civil rights laws. |
| 2:35.7 | Okay, so there will be lawsuits. |
