I've kind of boxed myself in here for the top of the show.

Last week, I said I would talk about the elections this week because we recorded the intro to last week's show the day before the elections.

We didn't know what would happen or what had happened. and so I think I changed the subject and I talked about Halloween

and how we should give parents alcohol beat them shots on our porches on Halloween so there's

something in it for the grownups and I said I talked about the elections this week so I'm kind of

stuck talking about this thing that we're all sick of hearing about and And it's so depressing, particularly if you're a lefty or a liberal. Some of my right-wing bat-shut friends are, of course, dancing. But, you know, if you're lefty or liberal, it's kind of sad. You have to look for those silver linings. We had one of those silver linings here in Washington State where through a ballot initiative,

the people did what our elected Democratic representatives here in Washington State don't have the courage to do and closed the fucking gun show loophole.

So that happened here.

In Berkeley, they passed a one cents per ounce soda tax despite the millions.

The beverage industry poured into opposing that,

including complaining and right winger's going on the radio to complain that that soda tax was

regressive.

They don't like regressive taxes except when they do.

They love regressive taxes.

They want to cut tax rates for the rich.

They want to always hike sales taxes.

They love regressive taxes,

except when it might hurt a stock they own in PepsiCo. Four different states, all red states

raised the minimum wage. That was good. The personhood bullshit amendment failed in Colorado
