It's Tuesday.

People are out there voting midterm elections.

So exciting.

People have been voting for a while in states that still have early voting in states where Republicans haven't put an end to that to try to make it more difficult for people to vote.

But I don't want to dwell on the election. We'll probably end up talking about the election next week when I will attempt to put in perspective and cheer everybody up about what looks like could possibly be a big Republican day today.

And I will remind you how sad we all were in 2004 when George W. Bush got reelected and how we came back and fought and turned the tide and we can do that again. If indeed, it's a shitty day for Democrats today, which everybody says it's going to be and I'm really nervous. Let's not talk about the election. Let's just talk briefly about Halloween. It was Halloween on Friday night. Love it when Halloween is on a weekend. Don't want to talk about

slutty, slutty, slutty, slutty, Halloween costumes. I think that's fine. I think it's

sexist in application when only girls go out in slutty costumes. And we should just encourage

boys to also go out in slutty costumes, not just the gay boys, but the straight boys, too.

Everybody should show off a little bit.

There's a whole chapter in my recent book, American Savage, about this fact, about Halloween and how it has become essentially the straight pride parade.

And that's a good thing.

People need an event in their calendar where they can be dirty and weird and crazy and not themselves in public

and dress up in drag or in slutty clothes or scary clothes or whatever it is.

They can just kind of let it all hang out.

We have a sexually repressed culture, a sexually repressed sex negative society.

People bottle up their sexuality 365 days a year if they're good and decent people

and don't inflict it on other people. We need that fashioning. We need carnival. We need

Mardi Gras. We need that one day in the calendar a year where people just go a little bit
