In July, earlier in the year, while I was on vacation, this story broke that was really kind of depressing and amazing and an indictment of our culture, of American culture, and the safety net that doesn't exist and the shitty

fucking jobs that are available to people out there. A mom, a single parent who had a job

at a McDonald's where she was making shit money, didn't know what to do with her nine-year-old

daughter. For a long time, when mom was at work, the child had sat in the McDonald's with a tablet

computer playing games.

And then the tablet computer was stolen.

The kid was bored.

And so mom gave her daughter permission to go play in a park near the McDonald's.

Took her to that park near the McDonald's near where she works.

And this was a park full of children and parents.

This wasn't some heroin den.

This wasn't some dangerous bramble covered fucking shooting gallery in the woods.

This was a park full of children.

This was a playground.

And halfway through the day, a parent asked this little girl who had gotten in no trouble and was in no way threatened and hadn't been endangered or harmed in any way where her mom or dad was and the girl said that she was there alone and her mom was at work. And this parent called the police and the mom who had dropped her daughter off at the park was arrested charged with felony felony child endangerment, was fired from her job

at McDonald's. So that's one nine-year-old girl over here. The parents of another nine-year-old

girl, parents from New Jersey, took their daughter, age nine, to a shooting range in Arizona

last week where they filmed their daughter, their precious child, using an

Uzi, getting a lesson at the shooting gallery, the shooting range, and how to fire an Uzi.
