Years ago, I was working on a book called Skipping Towards Gomorra about the Seven

Deadly Sins in America.

And for anger, one of the Seven Deadly Sins, I went to Texas and shot a gun.

I've never really held a gun, never shot a gun in my life.

But I went to a shooting range in Plano, Texas, and hired a gun. And at the end of the day, this big old Texas good old boy, who is my gun coach, clap me on the back and said,

Son, you're natural, which is not something I get called in Texas or anywhere close to Texas very often. So I'll take it. And what I came away with was, you know, you reach a certain age, stage of life where you stop doing things that you've never done before. You stop doing new things. So you stop finding sort of innate, hardwired talents that you happen to possess because you're

not just out there trying shit like you are when you're young and so who knew i was a really good

shot as i wrote in skipping towards camor it would be like charlton heston who was still alive at the time

He invited me, and I went with my husband, Terry, and we sat in this booth and we drank champagne and looked out at the proles and the hellots and the stands below us and watched the game. And we were good at watching the game. I mean, you just have to sit there and eat and drink, and I'm good at that generally. I've been good at that for a long time, but I never thought I would be good at that watching a football game. Because there's certain things you just don't do when you're gay. And I know that now I'm going to get calls from gay people who are sports fans who have been doing this all their lives. But when you're the kind of gay I am,

you just don't do this. You don't watch football games. And maybe you would have enjoyed it,
