We're going to do something just a little bit different this week.

I'm on vacation, and instead of skipping a show or doing a greatest hits,

we've decided to broadcast an interview that I did with Ari Shapiro.

He's the White House correspondent for National public radio and a terrific and funny and

insightful reporter and guy.

And when the new book came out, when American Savage came out, Ari and I sat down for a long

conversation at Town Hall in Seattle about the book, about gay politics, about life, about

fatherhood, about all sorts of things.

And it's a terrific conversation.

It was originally supposed to be aired on public radio, but we used a few too many F-bombs for it to make public radio.

So we're sharing with all of you on the podcast.

A quick programming note, there was a reception before the talk. So Ari and I had a

couple of drinks at the reception before the talk, and then somebody thought it would be really

a good idea to send us out on stage with more drinks. So we were a little tipsy at the beginning

of the convo, and we got tipsier and tipsier and tipsier and tips here as the Convo went on. It's a good

time and thank you to Ari for coming out to Seattle and doing this event with me and I think
