Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

This week Pip is joined by the duo of incredible poet and filmmaker SAUL WILLIAMS and stellar actor and playwright ANISIA UZEYMAN!

Saul is back on the Distraction Pieces couch for his second appearance in the show's history (first time was incredible), and as you can well imagine, you're in for treats galore. Not only that, you can double up on said treats by adding the wonderful Anisia Uzeyman into the mix, as the two drop science in an orderly fashion! A huge amount of perspective, viewpoint and opinion which you will definitely enjoy being in on, but also you'll hear about their film Neptune Frost. If you haven't seen or heard about the film, for goodness sake look at the trailer for some context - it's incredible, and will give a perfect foundation for ths chat with the makers. Or better yet - watch the film. Fans of Saul will heavily appreciate this, and if you're familiar with the work of Anisia you'll love it. And all rounded up with some glorious hip hop anecdotery in case you forgot who you were dealing with here. ENJOY!

Welcome, welcome, welcome. This is the distraction pieces podcast episode 502.

0:06.8

I want to thank you all for tuning in and for all the love for the RSPIP episode last week.

0:12.4

And for the the the big episode 500, the two part are the week before. I'm so excited for you to hear

0:20.5

this episode in episode 500. One of the episodes I think that was mentioned

0:27.4

or maybe it was in the RSPIP as one of the classics was an early episode I did with Saw Williams.

0:34.0

Well today I sat down or for today's episode a few days ago I sat down with Saw Williams and

0:42.1

Anicia Uzeman and had one of the best conversations I've had on the podcast.

0:51.8

It was astounding and it was a time I really needed it as well.

1:01.2

Honestly I ended this conversation just so

1:06.8

mentally enriched, mentally charged. It's an interesting one man because

1:12.4

I can consider Saw a friend and now Anicia hopefully but Saw is someone who has always

1:19.6

intimidated me through no thought of his own. I'm a big fan of Saw's work and Saw,

1:26.0

I've said it numerous times Saw Williams, Sage Francis, a few others were the big inspirations

1:32.6

for me starting music and spoken word. And I've digged with Saw we got interviewed together in

1:39.3

Texas once and in December in fact when Saw had the the film which a lot of this podcast is talking

1:48.3

about the film he and Anicia created Neptune Frost out in the UK. I went over because I was an

1:56.9

associate producer on it. I went to a screening that had a Q&A with them and I met up with Saw

2:03.7

Anicia and on the drive there I was nervous and every time we hang out it's a joy.

2:10.4

The nerves are completely unwarranted or the intimidation is completely unwarranted but

2:15.7

this was a prime example of that and yeah one of the things we talk about, we talk about a lot

2:21.7

of things. At the end Saw gives one of the best hip hop anecdotes I've ever heard and I'd never

2:31.2

heard it before either. You know I'm tempted to clip it and do a little text video or whatever
