Summary

In episode 429 astrologers Camille Michelle Gray and Lindsey Turner join me to discuss how different eras in music can be seen through the zodiac sign Saturn is transiting, and how those eras can be studied by looking at the Saturn returns of musicians. Saturn spends about three years in each sign of the zodiac, and during the course of the episode we go through all twelve signs of the zodiac and discuss how the sign Saturn was in often characterized the music of that era. Lindsey has made a special study of how the archetypes associated with each sign manifest very specific ways in the themes expressed in different musical eras, while Camille shows how the Saturn return of musicians often coincides with a very distinctive era in their individual discography. This is a really great topic where both of you kind of approached me separately to talk about to pitch kind of a talk on Saturn and how it relates to the music industry and musicians and they seem like such complimentary topics

0:36.4

that I thought would be a good idea for the three of us just to do this together.

0:40.0

I'm super excited.

0:41.5

Me too.

0:44.0

All right, awesome. Well, why don't we dive right into it then?

0:48.0

Where should we start?

0:50.0

Maybe we should talk a little bit about why Saturn and music.

0:53.7

0:55.8

Please, take it away.

0:57.2

Awesome.

0:58.1

So I associate Saturn with everyday people.

1:01.4

Saturn signifies farmers, and at one point farmers made up something like 90% of the population. And Saturn also exalts in the sign of Libra, which I associate with expressions of art and justice. So this signals to me that people are

lifted up in creative expression and that this also has a direct impact on equity.

1:24.0

And so at some point I became curious about the way

1:26.8

that popular music evolves over time.

1:29.6

And I had the idea to track it against Saturn transits

through the signs.
