Hi everyone. This is the Daily Gospel Exegesis podcast, and it's produced by Logical Bible Study Ministry.

This is a Catholic ministry which is all about helping you understand the Bible better.

And in particular, how to really dive into the text and understand what the text means on the most fundamental level.

And we call that understanding the literal sense of scripture.

So it's a podcast that's all about looking at the literal sense of the gospel text

of the day, the gospel text from today's mass. And I know so many of you have benefited from

this approach. Sometimes there's this impression that if we're too serious about the Bible, that

it will take us further away from God. But I've found the opposite. I know that many of you have

found the opposite as well, which is that when you really start diving into the text and looking at what

it means on the most fundamental level in the literal sense in its original context, there's so much

richness there and it actually helps you get to know Jesus better and brings you closer to God.

And that can be a jumping off point to go deeper into the text in different ways.

So that's what we're on about in this podcast.

Today we're going to look at Luke chapter 6 verses 43 to 49.

Jesus said to his disciples,

there is no sound tree that produces rotten fruit, nor again a rotten tree that produces

sound fruit. For every tree can be told by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from

thorns nor gather grapes from brambles. A good man draws what

is good from the store of goodness in his heart. A bad man draws what is bad from the store of

badness. For a man's words flow out of what fills his heart.
