First, with millions of Americans heading to airports and hitting the road ahead of Christmas week. We begin with the holiday travel outlook. ABC's Morgan Norwood is at Newark Liberty International Airport this morning. Good morning to you. Morgan. How are things looking?

Hey, good morning to you, Janay. Looking pretty good. This is actually the TSA checkpoint line right behind me. The line is certainly building, but checkpoint agents have been moving things along pretty quickly. But we are certainly talking about a busy start to the holiday travel crush with more than 122 million Americans on the roads and taking to the skies over the next week. Off to a messy start, certainly, for this travel period.

At one point, Friday, listened to this.

There were more than 9,000 cancellations and delays from coast to coast,

and some of them, many of them, due to the weather.

And nearly 3 million passengers expected to fly today and tomorrow alone,

with the FAA directing more than 440,000 flights through December 27th.

The busiest airports this holiday are going to be the usual suspects, right?

Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, Fort Worth, Chicago, O'Hare, and Los Angeles.

And to keep traffic moving, we're learning that the FAA says it may open up military airspace,

especially along the East Coast and the Gulf.

And airlines we also know are bracing for this as well.

United is expecting 10.3 million passengers, an American is looking at 12 million passengers.

But it's not just the skies.

AAA says 109 million drivers will be taking that road trip to their holiday destinations,

and that's due in part to cheaper gas prices.

That's always good news. It's always even better news to know when to leave out. Get going now, if you can, to avoid that traffic. You're going to run into the worst traffic between 12 and 8 p.m. After 9 is also a good time to head out with. Yeah, right after GMA.
