Let's bring in now Jeff McDowell of the San Antonio Express News.

I'm excited to have a Spurs expert on it and intractable franchise.

But Jeff is going to tell us everything that we need to know about the 2019-20 San Antonio Spurs.

So the place I wanted to start this year, Jeff, is just talk about how this team did it last year.

You know, I mean, they had that 11 and 14 start.

It looked like the post-Kawaii era was going to be a disaster.

They couldn't score. The defense struggled all year.

And then all of a sudden, this team became one of the best offenses in the NBA. How did they do that?

Yeah, they just kind of got it together at the right time.

And I think, you know, when I always tell people about the Spurs, they always ask me like,

you know, how do you think the Spurs are going to do this year or whatever.

It's always just like a little better than you think.

Whatever you think, it's just going to be a little bit better.

Whether you think they're going to win 35 games, they'll win 42.

If you think they're going to be in the playoffs mix, they win the title, like that kind of thing.

So I think a lot of that goes to pop and just kind of the culture and system needs put in place.

But yeah, the offense really took control.

And they also, I mean, they were pretty, as you mentioned, pretty mediocre defensively.

No, for a good chunk of that year.

But there was a stretch.

Right when it looked like things were dark, like they lost like three games by 30 points in the

space of a week.
