Something I can say my guest, Sarah Tream, who's the creator, co-creative of the new show, The Affair, on Showtime.

First of all, so good to have you here. Thank you so much for doing this.

Thanks for having me.

I guess I should ask you to explain to the audience what this show is about.

Yeah. Well, when people ask that question, I say that this show is about. Yeah. Well, when people ask that question,

I say that the show is about an affair.

It is.

That's basically what the show is about.

You know, and I guess the hook of it is that it's told from two sides.

It's told from his and her perspective.

And that there is a crime story that kind of provides the framework and it's humming underneath.

Yeah, but it's also very much, I mean, I was saying to before we started, it's very much about guilt.

Yeah, it's about human lives, for sure. And I guess I think that this shows about the distance between who you want to be and who you are.

Well, that's something we can say that was part of in treatment, too, the idea of you having a perception yourself and having that perception shattered by another point of view.

Right, exactly. I mean, I think, yeah, that's what I think that's what effective therapy does.

I mean, I'm just, that's just really what I'm interested in.

That's what I've sort of always been interested in is that, I know for some reason I've been

obsessed with that Walt Whitman quote recently, the, do I contradict myself? Okay, then I contradict

myself. I'm large. I contain multitudes. Just that this idea that we all have

multiple selves, but not in a kind of schizophrenic way, but that we're all capable of
