overnight that Justin Fairfax, the one-time lieutenant governor of Virginia has murdered his wife and killed himself while his teenage children were in their Virginia home.

His teenage son called the police.

Fairfax was accused of rape while he was, Lieutenant Governor.

He never shook the allegations.

It could very well be that the allegations are, in fact, correct.

The rapes are said to have occurred when he was a college student, and

later, years later, before he held elected office at a Democratic National Convention, two

different accusers came forward. I've been reading over the coverage of this event, these events,

and his subsequent failure to run for governor of

Virginia. And a couple of quotes stuck with me. One is of Alyssa Katz, who is a lawyer for a few of the

accusers. And she writes, the fact that Justin Fairfax is still here, in this case

running for office, seems to be exactly what politicians are doing these days, act completely

indignant, never apologize, see no ground, it seems to be working.

Well, it wasn't working.

It didn't work with Eric Swalwell.
