Eric Swalwell is out, out of office, out of the running for California government, out of

staffers.

Apparently, no one works for him.

I will be getting to Eric Swalwell in the spiel.

But first, I was thinking about the other people still running for governor.

Katie Porter could have benefited from Swalwell's self-immolation and possible crimes.

Let's not be too glib about it.

But Katie Porter doesn't seem to have support.

The San Francisco Chronicle did a survey of who might gain and noted that

Katie Porter wasn't likely to gain supporters among the D.C. or California, let's say, Sacramento

political class, people don't like Katie Porter. If this seems tautological, she won't get support

because she doesn't have support. It's because Katie Porter rubs people the wrong way.

It has high staff turnover is the way to say it and generally comports herself in a style

that voters, when they hear about it, tend not to like.

Now, this all does represent, I suppose, a great example to and a great opportunity to have a debate about sexism.

And it's an interesting and worthy debate.

But I don't think what Katie Porter represents is an opportunity to actually win power and advance the agenda that she so badly wants to advance.

And it's not an agenda that's self-serving, you know, in her view of the world.

It's an agenda like Elizabeth Warren's, her great mentor. It's an agenda that will help people,
