On this program, Debbie Milman talks with illustrator Sarah Blake

about how she came to be fully tattooed, why it's so great to draw girls, and what it's like

to paint a portrait of an NBA star.

Here's Debbie Milman.

Sarah Blake is an illustrator, designer, and a fine artist. She is great at drawing,

but painting, according to Sarah, not so much. But here's her work around. When she wants color, she lets her

computer do the work. The results are stunning. They're gorgeous ethereal images that sit somewhere between realism and abstraction.

We spoke a little while ago in Cincinnati.

Sarah had two pieces at the contemporary art center where she was showing alongside

her sometime collaborator Joshua Davis. We sat down to talk in the members lounge of

the museum. So Sarah the first thing that I want to ask you about is your

tattoos. Let's talk about your tattoos. Sure. Can you describe them for our listeners?

I think it's easier to describe what I don't have tattooed.

Oh, that's a good idea. Let's do that.
