I'm the host Scott Feinberg and I am really thrilled to be joined on this episode

by a terrific young actress and a really lovely person whose name is not known or easily pronounced by many but who is

going to be a big star for a long time to come. Her name is Sertia Ronin. First

name spelled S-A-O-I-R-S-E pronounced Sertia like Inertia. It's worth learning because this 21-year-old, and you won't

find a more impressive 21-year-old, is almost certainly going to receive a best actress nomination for a movie that might well receive a best picture nomination in just a few weeks.

It happens to be my favorite movie of the year, John Crowley's Brooklyn.

And it tells the story of a young girl who comes from Ireland to America and finds herself

caught between two worlds and two men.

The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January where it was acquired

by Fox Searchlight for a record $9 million, largely

on the back of a great and very affecting performance by Ronan.

Ronan's been on the scene for barely a decade, but she's really made that decade count. Eight years ago at the

age of just 13 she received a best supporting actress Oscar nomination for her

performance in Joe Wright's Atonement which also received the Best Picture nomination and really put her on the map.
