We have never told our children that there was a Santa Claus, simply because it's not true,

but we do allow them to say that it's a pretend story, and our main thing has been to

teach them that the gifts come from mom and dad or from friends and relatives, and that

the pretend story is that the Santa Claus comes down the chimney and puts gifts in the stockings.
